I had a lovely days fishing on a day ticket pond in Suffolk, the owner told me it was previously linked to a garden centre before he bought it and whatever ornamental fish that didn't sell ended up in it......I caught a few very fat and red Goldfish and a few of these beauties

Hi
I have caught a lot of these in a fishery in Norfolk. I think they are a form of golden Orfe. I find that they fought nothing like a crucian though!!

Re: Fantailed Crucian ?
They are Fan-tailed Goldfish - gone wild! 2nd or more generation reverting back to 'normal' brown colours.
Crucian carp (Carassius carassius) - Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus) - and other sots of crucian X's and goldfish 'domestic varieties.
Orfe family:- Golden - Blue - are cultivated varieties of Ide, (Leuciscus idus) aka Silver Orfe.
Orfe are related to Chub (Leuciscius cephalus) and Dace (Leucisus leuciscus)

All head and tail - no wonder they don't fight very well.

Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter

has been the cause of several suicides.’
