I did try a whelk years ago didn't get a bite on them eat the the rest left one one in the margin went back the next day and it was gone. I should have cut them up into pieces and not use them whole.
Old fishermen never die they only smell that way.

The cold weather can make extraction difficult with Winkles..

Aren't winkles easily gathered from rocky marks at the beach? I know there are loads at Aberystwyth.

God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

Never seen pickled winkles are you guys getting confused with mussels or cockles LOL

Winkles for sunday tea in the 50's and 60's regular, spent ages winkling them out of the shell with a pin.
