I have used artificial hemp - feeding real hemp - tinned or bottled!

Tares work well with hemp - cook them yourself though.

Use for tinned hemp is mixed into groundbait - it works really well then - but as you say the tinned stuff is definitely not for a hookbait

I don't remember you complaining about boats on the Thames a few weeks ago! And the oik in the punt. Regardless, bring some of that tinned hemp on your next visit and I'll show you how to use it properly, on the hook.

The secret to using tinned hemp is hook choice and presentation using the smallest float possible for the conditions, and if trotting holding back lots. I treat myself to just one tin a year and catch lots more fish than with the stuff I make, and I catch plenty with that. And I never have problems finding tinned hemp to put on the hook. And when I switch to fake I get the same number of bites but miss more of them, so now I prefer the real stuff. Tinned hemp rules, but it's far too expensive compared to homemade. And I also find it annoying to waste time finding good kernels for the hook, but I find this regardless of whether tinned or homemade. But I have just bought some tares to make choice easier.

Get your own from a grain store. The secret to successful bulging white popping irresistable to :fish: hemp is in the soaking.

Must be at least 24 hours immersed in water till it sinks, then boil. Thank me later :Hat:

Best option is just to put it in a thermos flask with boiling water for about 6 hours

Human Grade Hemp for hook baits @ £6.50 per kg. Looks huge - is it?

The stuff that comes in resealable plastic packets seems OK to me, though I rarely use it as a hook bait, more often loose fed in combination with sweetcorn and the latter on the hook.
