I go to a maggot farm a few miles away and get half a gallon of maggots for £6, sometimes they charge only £5. It's a very good measure. I take one of those buckets about 9in dia and it ends up about 2/3 full.

I have to order mine by post if I really need some. I normally just raid my local super market for baits such as prawns, sweetcorn, cat meat. I'm fishing tomorrow so I've just mixed up some cat biscuit ground bait...it works a treat. It's surprising what baits can be made yourself.

I still wish we had a local tackle shop though, instead of one 30 miles away.

£2 up er in the grim north. From a shop supplying match man supplies. Guess it's their bread and butter trade.

The place I'm forced to use is also geared towards our friends the match men as well as the bivvy boys. I guess he realises he's the only tackle shop for miles so can charge what he likes.
