Dual purpose bankstick.

Post by Wallys-Cast »

I have been making a few banksticks and other things recently and was asked if I could make an adjustable one which would be long enough for fishing on the river with the rod beachcaster style and still able to be used as a standard rod rest for lake fishing etc.

After being asked to make some screw in landing net extensions, the thought came to me that this combination would offer the answer. Two banksticks at 2ft 3in long or 1 at 4ft 6in when screwed together and I suppose you could make longer or shorter pieces to give an infinite combination for different situations.

The point of one of the tips is internally threaded and unscrews to allow the banksticks to be joined together. All the threads are standard 3/8" BSF so any standard rod rest heads could be used, I only included these in the photos as I thought the light oak was a nice match to the cane..

The photos probably give a better description than I can muster in words..

Any thoughts for further improvement or modification will be gratefully appreciated.

Wal.

An old post, just redone the photos due to photobuckets outrageous demands.

Ingenious! Great idea Wal and beautifully executed!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Thanks for all the kind comments gents, much appreciated.

Mal. Just about up to date now, I will be ready to take in some more work after my last weeks holiday at the old gravel pits, last week in September.

Very clever, Wal. I love it.
