Fighting butt

Post by LuckyLuca »

After a few encouraging words from Wal, I decided to attempt a fighting butt.
A wooden handled glass pier rod and a broken landing net were sacrificed for the cause!
Waiting for the teak oil to dry.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

What is it? I've heard of fighting butts on modern fly rods, just a cork knob that gives some support in the wrist area. Does this give support along the fore arm when playing a fish? Nice bit of craftsmanship regardless... :Hat:

Just an extension for rods with short handles really Scott.
I initially wrote Butt extension, knew that would provoke toilet humour :Chuckle:

Great idea but what if your rod just has an ally cap on the end rather than a screw in button, calling Prof Wal, my Dorset is in need of an extension !

That did cross my mind Mushy. A MK2 version something like the push on snooker cue extensions will have to be planned.
