Landing net pole

Landing net pole

Evening gents,i need some advice please,i have an old 4 piece salmon rod but the 3rd section is missing ,i have cleaned all whippings and guides off and removed the handle.the butt section is whole cane the second secion im not sure sure but think maybe greenheart? Would it be suitable for a landing net pole ?

Not sure that's greenheart, looks like Ash to me? Personally I think it's a little thin to make all but the lightest net handle, it would however make a fine pair of bank sticks. :Hat:

That was my other thought paul,or another thought was find another matching piece for landing net arms,if it would be string enough for that?
I spend most of my life fishing the Rest i just waste

That's a possibility, give it a bit of a gentle bend, if it snaps you've lost nothing :Hat:
