Hi ! OMR here again.... I have been out today and "discovered " a farm pond that has some Tench in it, its not one of those "commercial" jobbies, but a well run picturesque pond. On sorting out some gear for a session next Monday I discovered that I had lost my short bank stick. One short one is enough for me, and because I am a clumsy old so and so I am always losing the "short one"
I was pondering over what to make one out of,because I usually have a few forked bits of branches drying out for emegencies , I had used them all up, so was considering cutting a "V" in some timber when She who must be obeyed came to the rescue, she was throwing some bits and bobs away ..... as she threw , I caught.
It will be fairly easy to guess what this short bankstick head is made from, it has a lovely curve to it....
It was completed using a bit of garden cane and an old tent peg, some bits of whipping to make it similar to the other bigger brothers..and a coat or two of varnish.
I am not too precious about the finish on my banksticks, they get bashed about and used as walking sticks, wading sticks, for knocking back nettles etc etc, so these are good enough for me.
Anybody guess what the short stick head is made from ?

Sorry Nigel, not even close, try again ?
I only know the identity of one of my rest heads, it is the second in from the right, it is Rhodedendron.

That'll do the job
So is that what they call a spoon rest?

There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.
