Larger landing net Model Gye

Post by Evert van der Plas »

Recently i find out that i need a larger net, the one i was using at the moment was a troutnet model Gye that i made before, a nice size catfish was the ultimate test for the trout net :-)

The net i work on will be the same model but a few sizes bigger and with art deco style spreader block

I don't want to use screws on the net so used pins to attach the spreader block on the hoop
Will post the finished net when done

That is really nice Evert..I like the ornate handle!

What timber did you use for the square section?

A great piece of work..Well done!

Thank you Wm+
It is a good quality pine wood, i did not like the color so i used a colored varnish and a small brush to bring on a pattern, I learned this at school long time a go wood texture painting technique to make cheaper wood better or a plastic pipe with a nice oak texture. This net was a try out with the spreader block i made i did not want to use screws for attaching the block to the wood and i think it does work out good , i did make these nets before but smaller trout fishing nets

Stunning work Evert; any self respecting fish will be proud to be landed with such a beautiful landing net.
