I Llke that, the only problem as far as any I should make would be that I am a bit " hard " on my gear sometimes, and I could genuinley see the cork getting bashed about and probably falling to bits over time.. nevertheless, a great idea and one that I shall shamelessly be copying .

Another great idea of yours Steve. Champagne cork should last for years too, it's very hard wearing compared to standard cork..

Nicely done Chavender I did a same thing last year but used leather and polished it with clear wax. As leather takes stain really well you could potentially have any colour you like.

best thing about it ,if the cork gets damaged the centre piece will still remain ,simply refurbish it with another cork .its replaceableOld Man River wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 2:05 pm I Llke that, the only problem as far as any I should make would be that I am a bit " hard " on my gear sometimes, and I could genuinley see the cork getting bashed about and probably falling to bits over time.. nevertheless, a great idea and one that I shall shamelessly be copying .

Very true Chavender, but if she reads this, it will be SWMBO who does the damaging, just for an excuse to nip down the "offie" and buy a couple of bottles of bubbly ( just in case )Chavender wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 8:02 pmbest thing about it ,if the cork gets damaged the centre piece will still remain ,simply refurbish it with another cork .its replaceableOld Man River wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 2:05 pm I Llke that, the only problem as far as any I should make would be that I am a bit " hard " on my gear sometimes, and I could genuinley see the cork getting bashed about and probably falling to bits over time.. nevertheless, a great idea and one that I shall shamelessly be copying .

It was a neoprene contact adhesive similar to bostick.
