An opportunity has arisen for a key role at the world's leading fishing, shooting and rural pursuits store.
Job Title: Junior Merchandiser
Reports to: Joint Report to Heads of Finance and C&A
Location: London
Primary purpose of the role
To work with both C&A and the finance team to maximise profit and minimise cash investment through effective range planning, analysis of range performance, forecasting and control of inventory levels.
To support the C&A team in the proactive management of all aspects of the Farlows supply chain and product supply process from formulating proposals for range structure, ensuring that product are available in stores at the appropriate time and in the correct quantities and in accordance with the company’s strategic policies, financial budgets and agreed terms and conditions.
To support the Finance team in producing weekly, monthly and seasonal sales reports, product performance analysis and inventory management indicators. Reports will include detailed historical sales analysis to support maintenance of core product and forward seasonal buys.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Plan product ranges, set prices and margins in conjunction with the C&A team.
• Plan budgets and present sales forecasts and figures for new ranges.
• Analyse and report on product performance, margins and control markdown.
• Analyse and report on product performance by distribution channel.
• Control stock levels based on forecast.
• Analyse and report on supplier performance.
• Build and maintain an active `Open to Buy` system.
• Extract sales and stock reports from retail system, analyse and make recommendations for action.
• Control stock holding within Pall Mall and Sportfish stores to maximise sales potential.
• Maintain a library of appropriate data to merchandise planning.
• Prepare and attend product meetings and complete agreed actions.
• Liaise with the Retail Managers on product performance in relation to merchandise layout.

Knowledge /experience / skills / personal attributes
Essential
• Good knowledge of luxury clothing sourcing and retail.
• Articulate, analytical and numerate
• Ability to create and use spreadsheets and documents.
• Strong commercial flair
• Quick to identify trends
Must understand the outline of the buying cycle.
Desirable
• Good understanding of the manufacturing process for men’s and ladies clothing and related products.
• Ability to build solid long term relationships with suppliers
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing business needs.
• Ability to build good cross functional relationships.
