The Vintage Fishing Company - Closing Down Sale!

Post by The VFC »

Hi all you wonderful folk at the TFF - its with a real tinge of sadness that I have to tell you that the old VFC will be closing its doors at the end of September. Other work has just become so busy that I can't keep on top of stock and technical issues etc. any longer. A huge thanks to all of the customers/ friends who stopped by over the past decade - and the makers, restorers and other assorted scallywags who make the vintage tackle business such a fun one to be involved in (you know who you are!).

Over the next week or so there will be some hefty reductions on stock that I have left - and I'll be uploading one or two bits and pieces that somehow escaped my attention (I found 2 Millwards Floatmasters today for example!). Please stop by and buy - otherwise it'll all be off to auction at the end of next month.

Tight lines and may your varnish be miraculously bubble-free
Jim

Hello Jim,

that is sad news you have provided me with a couple of lovely rods-Allcock's Isis and Hardy Matchmaker, both enjoy regular outings and give me great pleasure when using them.
You also offered me a Nottingham wood/brass 31/2 inch centrepin at a silly price with the Isis which I gladly accepted and that little reel after a quick clean is a absolute joy to use.

Your friendly manner and fabulous service always made it a pleasure dealing with your good self.

May I wish you all the best for the future.
Best Regards
Nige.

One of the first rods I ever bought was from you and my daughter uses it p. Sold as a boys rod (of course we don’t call it that now) it’s been involved in many adventures. Thank you and good luck with your future endeavours. M

Jim I was lucky enough to acquire my Aerial Match from you some years ago for an extremely reasonable and fair price and on monthly terms before collection if I recall correctly. A very kind gesture and the reel is all it has been out to be and therefore is used regularly.

Many thanks indeed and I wish you all the best for the future. :Hat:

That is a shame, Jim. Good luck for the future. :Hat:

I'm sorry to hear that VFC is closing, but it's good to hear you are very busy in other areas. You were always very kind and generous to me, even though I was never a 'major' customer in terms of cash. So, many thanks Jim, and all the very best for the future.

Many thanks one and all for the kind remarks. At least I'll be able to get out fishing myself more regularly - there's a lovely Paul Cook rod that looks remonstrance at me every time I pass the front door!
