This addition is a game tackle and country clothing dealers, they're not short of support like some of the independent 'coarse' tackle shops of my youth, probably raking it in through their online business. All that said, the guys in the tackle department are very attentive and will happily chew the fat and discuss tactics all day long and on top of that they often have some amazing bargains, if you're ever in The Lakes it's well worth a visit, bargain basement is upstairs.. .. :hahaha:

1. Townsend Tackle, Humberstone Road, Leicester.
2. Davis Tackle, Bargates, Christchurch.
3. Alans Fishing Tackle, Worcester
4. Woody's of Hereford
5. Harefield Tackle, Harefield Village, Middx
6. John Norris, Penrith.

I'm adding my local tackle shop ... not the biggest ... but friendly ... and well stocked with fresh baits open every day but Sunday.

1. Townsend Tackle, Humberstone Road, Leicester.
2. Davis Tackle, Bargates, Christchurch.
3. Alans Fishing Tackle, Worcester
4. Woody's of Hereford
5. Harefield Tackle, Harefield Village, Middx
6. John Norris, Penrith.
7. Attleborough Angling Centre, Nuneaton.

ps ... I can second Woody's of Hereford. Only visited once on holiday when I grabbed a day trotting on the Wye ... but they were extremely helpful with information.

1 Tadley Angling Centre..North Hampshire
2 Thames Valley Angling..Tilehurst, Berkshire

Have several shops within a fifteen mile radius or so but the above two are my regular's.Top customer service at both establishment's and as a bonus at the Tadley shop you get a cuppa and Kev's priceless banter!

May I add number six chaps?....a superb traditional shop, which hasn't been taken over by the carp fad....still sells maggots, worms, porqupine quill floats, wicker creels, centrepins.... high quality country clothing....Oh and guns....a countrymans one stop shop! Only the other week I bought a lovely second hand Hardy two piece cane landing net handle for thirty quid (like I need another one!) that just happened to be leaning in a forgotten corner.....a real gem of a shop and Graham the proprietor is a gent, with tradition in his blood.

The Aerial Match was the original. I believe it was made for one year only then the Luftwaffe bombed the factory and the castings and dies etc were destroyed :( The later incarnation was the 4.5 inch Match Aerial. I think I have that correct but if now please feel free to teach me of my error :)

Anyway, to bring it back. May I nominate 'Allens of Bloxwich'. They do have a lot of modern stuff but what they do have is good old fashioned decent staff.
