Forgive my ignorance but was it off the top or do you get sinking flies I am no fluff chucker. Either way great catch
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish

I'm no fluff thrower either Loopster, but I think that dry flies float and wet flies search the area under the surface.

I imagine the fly was weighted to get to the bottom. To my mind it introduces a note of triviality into fishing.

Hi chaps, :Hat:
..... last time I fly fished....... you have three basic types:

1. Dry to imitate the insects having hatched from, blown onto or landed on the water.
2. Wet to imitate hatching (emerging) or drowned insects.
3. Nymphs which imitate the larval stages and sometimes like nothing that ever crawled upon this Earth.

You can read my sons own account on the Sportfish web site, he entered it into a competition there. I cannot give the link as I' on my mobile! Bluedun, it was no trivial matter having to wait 'till he caught!

Hi Bigfish, :Hat:

....he definately deserves to win "in my book", that was quite a feat of angling and certainly one that I've never heard of before!

MD it was a few years ago, and I must be a bad parent because I cannot remember if he won. But he did do his work experience there and was given one of those very fancy wooden handled trout nets for his effort.
