“Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers,” Herbert Hoover.

When discussing the proliferation of camouflage clothing among anglers with a friend she said:
'What about invisibility cloaks? You don't see many of them.'

I like this line from Mr Walton.
"We sit on the cowslip banks, hear the birds sing, and posses ourselves in as much quietness as these silent streams".

“I have laid aside business, and gone a’fishing.” –Izaak Walton
The above because I particularly love dropping all my work (I'm self employed) and going fishing midweek and think how lucky I am when i see other people over- stressed trying to get to and from work. Then get to the water to have it to myself many times!
Also: "My biggest fear is my wife selling all my tackle when I die for what i said I paid for it".
Can't remember where I read that, but another one that applies to me!!!!

An old boy I use to go sea fishing with use to say"work is for people that don't know how to fish"
There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.
