Re: River Stort
Looks like no one here has fished it before.

Re: River Stort
Can't say I've even heard of the Stort but there's some info on the 'net'.

Re: River Stort
Just picked up this thread... About 12 months ago I had a look around the area where the Stort comes into the Lea. I think on the Lea its called Fields weir. There were a couple of fellas " serious" Pike anglers. They told me that It was a good pike venue. Lots of litter though.

Re: River Stort
I used to fish the Globe A.S. waters on an exchange ticket, IIrc they ran from Biggens (?) Hotel to one meadow above Roydon Station. I think it is/was a pub club, not sure of the situation now. The Stort proper is canalised and breamy-looking there, the backwaters, chubby; I didn't have any large ones, though. I seldom do, so that means nothing. Saw a big roach in the stretch below the Globe's water...

Sorry, "Briggens" hotel. A youtube search for "River Stort Fishing" turns up a few leads, too.

If you have heard of Maurice Plegder " mole" who recently published his book "While my floats still cocked" . He is a stort regular, a traditional angler of cane and pin , and member of the perchfishers.

Re: River Stort
Perhaps I can revive talk of the Stort a year on, with something that's cropped up in the Roding section. While looking at options for a club to join on that river, Castle AC (Ongar) was touted as a possibility: http://www.castleanglingclub.webeden.co ... 4565919460
