Hi my name is Tony, I am new to this forum having seen SK's link on the Redmire forum. Thanks SK!
I have been a student of all aspects of angling for the past 40 years. My fishing was inspired, and still is, by my father. I used to follow him around with my small net hoping to catch sticklebacks and minnows in the shallows while he trotted for chub in Norfolk. My first rod was a 9ft split cane at the age of 10 matched up with an unlikely choice of an ultra modern (at the time) Abu close face reel.
I graduated over the years to the heavyweight fibreglass reels of the 70's with Mitchell reels, then the hi-tech composite rods of the 80's ( I couldn't afford carbon or kevlar in those days) and today the ultra light carbon carp rods and Shimano baitrunners. I have to admit though that I have now come full circle and bought myself a lovely MKIV split cane and a mint Mitchell 301 which bring me hours of fun.
I look forward to sharing tales and joining in discussions with you all.
Tony
