How much for a bread press ?

Well, there are two sets of completist collectors out there, the matchbox toy collectors and our lot. It appears to be mint and in its box so, yeah someone might pay that. Whatever, you can't blame the man for trying he can always lower the price by degrees until he makes his sale. Used unboxed ones go for an average of a tenner or more plus P&P which is not a huge indulgence for such a toy. For aesthetic worth however, the original Milbro version is in my view superior being better made with a brass thread and dressed in a pretty green and red livery to boot, just like a Christmas ornament: speaking of which they do make good presents. As for use, I like mine (a Milbro) well enough it is quite satisfying to compress a half inch thick piece of crust into two perfectly rectangular lozenges each dinted neatly in the centre slip one on a hook and watch it reconstitute when dipped. Whether the fish appreciate a regular cuboid bread bait or prefer it to a roughly torn offering is another matter. For anyone who smokes role ups and wants distraction to help him cease it has one particular virtue insofar as it provides an alternative use of your hands when the monkey's on your back.

The box for these, just like matchbox motor boxes etc, are, or have been available, as reproductions. Boxed items always fetch a premium so it pays to know your onions if you are after a boxed one! I have not got a clue what's what, mine is old and battered....patina I call it

My press is red but has a green thumb screw and green interior workings. Also the stamped product details on the side of mine are in a larger rectangle than the one shown in Nobbys' (ruby lane) link. maybe here were different versions?
