Just found a lovely piece that Dick wrote about Fred in 1965. Here's an excerpt where he observes how Fred was able to educate, amuse and entertain thousands through his celebrated writing style:
"Fred has this knack of communication. Whenever I remark on the value of knowing water temperature, I am accused of being scientific, but Fred could write about Einstein's theory of relativity without incurring a similar charge."
