Would really love to get a copy of this book after reading his chapter in "Shadows and Reflections". A wonderful use of the english word and being there in the right era are all the essentials for creating the stuff I want to read.
Anyone read this?

You must get a copy SK, it is a must to have. 108 pages of delight.
Chapter 12 'The End of an Era' was quite heartbreaking for me to read though.

Re: Woldale
I was given the book for Christmas a couple of years back but I have a back log of books to read. I'll bump it up the list now...
I don't whether it is mentioned in the Woldale book but Maurice's capture of a 17lb carp from Woldale in 1950 (I think) on a tank aerial rod is a great account written about in Drop me a line. It took him 6 hours to land it and exhausted to the point that he had to fight it sitting down and made the press! Sadly the fish was killed but he couldn't afford to have it set up and by the time Walker offered to do it, the fish had decomposed too much.

Re: Woldale
A book I really need to get, I ought to have it already.
I also need to take a friend up on an offer he made me to have a look at a rod he owns.
Maurice was his godfather and he left the rod Dick Walker made for him to him. He daren't ever use it.

It seems a shame not to use it a bit though...

Indeed, a very sought after rod and extremely valuable. Collectors would probably sell their mothers for that rod!!!
