Vintage Fishing Advertisements 1955 & 1965 - 66

Post by Tonytoned »

Hello everyone. One of the forum members suggested that post some vintage fishing advertisements from two vintage books I recently bought, so here we go. I hope you enjoy. The first few are from Angling (A Country life Publication) January 1955 and the rest from Where to fish 1965 - 66.

Here is the map of the rivers of Great Britain that came with the 'Where to fish' book.

What a great selection of advertising.
Thanks for sharing.
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Really nice .
I liked seeing the A . Carter and sons advert.
I have a Dingly made A. Carter and sons vintage fly reel .
Must have been a quite prestigious shop I should imagine.

Excellent. I might use a few of those in my vintage tackle advertisement roach quills. Image

It was lovely to see a small advertisement for Dawson's of Holme Lane,Sheffield my favourite tackle shop for the last twenty years and still going strong despite competition from the internet giants.I would urge anyone within striking distance of Sheffield to pay them a visit. They are a great source for vintage rod rings and everything else.
