Avon Mk V
I always thought that, for some reason, that I was using a Mk IV but checking today it is a Mk V Avon, bit of a panic but checked in my Olivers catalogue for 1973/74 and he did make a Mk V with a 1lb test curve priced at £20.00 finished rod and £11.00 for the kit.

Re: Avon Mk V
I think Ted was of the opinion that reducing a taper by a tenth all round created a very different rod to the original Mk.IV and that therefore it should have another name. He isn't the only maker to list the Avon as a Mk.V so maybe he had a point.
Chapmans found the rod so different they actually changed the taper( though cost might have figured in their thinking too) and got rid of the compound taper to make a straight tapered rod in their 500.

Thanks Nobby , very interesting, been using it with traditional perch bobber float, lovely action throughout.
