To quote Nobby from the following thread ... "the LRH ( Lawrence Robert Hardy...a director from 1913...) rod used a different numbering system...the Number 1 simply being the heavier rod, the 2 less so and the 3 the lightest of the spinning rods. They also vary in length as well as the casting weight."

Nobby corrected himself later in that thread. :Scared:

I think it may be the other way round?
0 = the lightest
1 = heavier
2 = even heavier and used for barbel & carp
3 = steel centred? - for pikeing?

I am sure someone will be along shortly who has a couple!

The No. 3 is the heaviest rod and the No.1 the lightest, all 9' 6".
I've noticed a couple of mentions on here of a No. 0 but never come across one or seen anything in print regarding this rod.
Do they exist?
The Nos. 1 and 2 were introduced in 1936 with the No. 3 following a couple of years later. So where would a 0 fit in?

To answer my own question re the No.0 LRH spinning rod - yes they do exist.
Just come across one listed in a 1951 catalogue - 8' 6" and weighing 8 ozs. Must be pretty rare.

The difference lies in the cast weight.The No.1 has a t.c. Of about 1,5lbs the No 2 about 2,25 lbs and the No 3 about 3 lbs.The No 1 is a nice Chub and Tench rod,the No 2 I use for Barbel and Carp,the No3 I use for deathbaiting and heavy Carp fishing weedy ponds.All in all good users which are not too expensive.And in my opinion they feel a little more steely than the MK IV rods..
