Nothing 'select' about the forum Ben, we all just leaned on the door and fell in. But there's enough information in the archives here to fill a library and any questions you ask will be met with plenty of advice..... not always the same advice but advice anyway.

We all started with a first cane rod - none of us stopped there :Chuckle:

Thanks all. I look forward contributing and getting to know you all.

I'm happy to report I have three days fishing ahead of me this coming weekend. I'm catching up with my best friend from school and fishing our old haunts round Berkshire where we grew up. A bit of lift float and centrepin fun to be had!

Oh, that sounds great! I hope, there will be some pictures and a little report.
Good luck and tight lines!

Welcome to the forum. Cane rods can be expensive, and I have learned many times you are actually paying for the makers name on the rod because of their high quality. But there are makers who make cane rods with high quality as well who charge half the price. Look around, you'll find something out there.
Worry less about who you might offend, and care more about who you might inspire.

Welcome; a personal view is that you can spend just a relatively few pounds and enjoy and, if you wish, spend thousands. I opted for the former ! Great fun and an alignment with value on financial and a more spiritual level
