I had an enjoyable couple of hours at Romsey today, meeting up with Michael and others, and buying yet another Mitchell Match and doing a book swap for a couple of relevant books, 'The Mitchell Match and Autobail Book' and 'The Collectors Guide to the Mitchell Ultra Light Spinning Reel'. Worst part of the trip was the traffic through the New Forest on the way home due to debris in one lane.

I was a little disappointed only managing to find one item, however Ruth my partner said it was rare and when we left the hotel she wrapped in a pair of her clean knickers!!!!

Once we had got back home and she was able to access her spread sheet informing me that it was an uncatalogued lure circa 1910 and in a size never seen before.

A thoroughly enjoyable day, a shed load of stuff sold, Mitchell 308's 408's, Mitchell Matches, Browning Revolver, Bewicks, 2nd version caps & later, the list goes on.
Lots of tea drunk and definitely lots of chatting.
I came away with a nice Shimano match III (from Ted!) which is awaiting service then, MOT, and a stonking Drennan Super Specialist 1.25Ib, tench & chub lookout!

I enjoyed Romsey yesterday, it was nice to have my son along for company. I saw a few new TFF faces and some more familiar one's! I know that Paul F did well in selling a number of 'ex Crucian item's', I did waggle the Craftversa, but getting a new car has to take priority! Although I had some really good well priced item's from Fredline, I struggled to sell most of them! We will both go to Redditch to try to shift our remaining item's so we will see you their!

The enjoyable chat I had with Lea Dweller, was worth the visit to Romsey on it's own this trip. After what seems like continuous illness since last November and the recent operation to finally removed my abscessed appendix, coupled with two bouts of pleurisy. Believe me, I felt physically relieved just to be there, although unable to drive myself to this fascinating venue, it was with the help of friends which made this one possible.
The fleeting chat to DaceAce was far too brief, apologies DaceAce, but I am sure our paths will cross on one of our local waters. Mr. Crabtree as effervescent as every and always enjoyable company. Caught up with Paul F., looking chipper and excited about his forthcoming move and many thanks for the silk fly line, of which I shall have much enjoyment this season, chasing the brown trout and later a few chub on the dry fly.
Everyone seemed in good spirits, with the sellers certainly moving some old stock, surplus to requirements. Picked up two lovely small vented aluminum bait cans myself, perfect for my winter cheese paste.
So thank you to all the exhibitors and sellers who participate, making this such a great little Vintage Tackle Fair year after year.

John, The pleasure was all mine in speaking with you! Mercifully, although I am in fine fettle, I am all too aware of how that it could all change in the blink of an eye! At my advanced age (74) I am so pleased that your surgery has been good for you and you can resume your life once more! Hopefully we can meet up later in the year and we can wet a line together! I wish all of my TFF friends the very best in the future, I enjoy your company and friendship!
