where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

I have some leave this week and had planned to visit Winchester cathedral. A number of reasons , one of which was to doff my float to him. Complete coincidence that the trip was on his birthday. But there his grave stone was and the stained glass window to all anglers and fishermen too. The apostles of course.

The depth of history going back to 1066 and in the case of Wessex much much further very humbling and a nice day to put fishing in perspective with Isaac

Took a stroll along the Itchen too

Oh found a bakers selling Lardy cake... couple of them went home with me too

Hats off to you Izaak, were would we have been without you?
And... I can feel a pilgrimage myself coming on, sounds charming and finished of with a stroll along the Itchen and Lardy cakes to boot!

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
