Love the little tigers. If they grew as big as barbel they would be the nations most sought after fish. If you could get them to the net, as they fight so hard!

I was admitted into said auguste, fine body of anglers last year!
I like Gudgeon, they really make me smile because they always look so indignant when dangling from the end of the line....like some outraged Express or Mail reader!
They also have saved many a blank day; for this they have my undying gratitude1
Mole Power!!! :sun:

As my name suggests im a Gobio lover too.
I remember sat in a peg last year at Wasing estates fishing quite happily for the little Lions when i was interupted by a roving angler
" Have you had anything out ? " Yes was my reply about 15 " 15 barbel " was his reply. I replied No 15 Gudgeon. " Try using pellets the Barbel love them " They may do but im fishing for Gudgeon not Barbel . " You mean you pay all that money in membership to fish for Gudgeon " Yes them and Dace. The roving angler shook his head and walked off.
Like already mentioned they fight like demons for their size and you never know where the next 5 oz plus Gobio is going to turn up

What amazes me you don't often see juveniles, they all seem to be upwards of 3" in length and each one a true fighter... Love them.

Great. Having grown up fishing the GU (less than a mile from home), gudgeon were few and far between. Looking at the stretches, they are a fair way north of where I was fishing.
I love the fact that they have the accurate scales and keep detailed records. No such equipment when I was a regular catcher, although I did have a gobio which was about 3oz from the Colne in the 60s.

They are obliging little chaps and were a mainstay of my canal fishing in the midlands. I've caught thousands from canals but they seem to need rivers to achieve anything near their growth potential. I remember catching some (to me at the time) monsters from the Warks Avon back in the 70s.
