Brown trout on buzzers

Post by Martin James »

I have just had an interesting , 0800 hrs until 1100 hrs, fishing an area of scum top of a pool. Lots of buzzers coming off, you could see small fish taking them. I had no more than half a dozen casts fishing from the bank, I could see the fish were very spooky. Caught 2 trout around 12 inches, also a big fish estimated at 18 inches, all on a 4 weight with a 15 foot leader 2lb tippet with a size 20 black buzzer. I doubt if I would have had any fish in the low gin clear water if I had put a foot in the water. It was a case of sitting back from the waterside.

I love buzzer fishing, you get some really hard and fast takes whilst the next one is a delicate twitch of the line, great sport.

Good for you, Martin. Fishing small flies like that is exciting at times. And 4 weight rods are always a good choice.
Worry less about who you might offend, and care more about who you might inspire.
