Perfection query
I recently found a Fosters “Perfection” at a boot fair ( 1930’s, it seems, going by the posts above). A couple of rings need replacing, but the main problem is that the mid section ferrule had been removed and I’ve found that it is too tight to get back on again. I’m not sure if I should remove the existing thread from the rod end and perhaps sand the cane down a fraction before adding new thread, or try some other method. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Perfection query
If you carefully scrape the old thread and remainder of old glue from the rod end, the ferrule should slip back on ok. Araldite the ferrule back on and all should be well.
