Hello from North Yorkshire
Hello all . I won’t start by stating my age because well let’s just say I’m over 50 and I have fished for nearly sixty years so there is a clue . I fish the rivers and streams of North Yorkshire and my home rivers are the Yorkshire Dove , Seven and Rye , I also fish the west beck at Driffield . I mainly fly fish for trout and grayling but also enjoy trotting for Grayling and more recently the occasional barbel . I love fly fishing using bamboo rods and silk lines . Of which I have a growing selection of older Hardy rods and a few Clifford Constables . I help run a few fishing clubs in the area too.

Hi,
Welcome to the site. Whilst a Nottinghamshire lad, I enjoy fishing a few matches on commercial waters around Driffield - hoping to meet up at some time, maybe at the Ravenfield matches,

Welcome to the forum, Ericsbeetle!
I have fond memories of the little River Seven, I used to fish it from Barugh Bridge down to its confluence with the Rye.
That used to be on the York AA book, and presumably still is?
The Rye at Butterwick is still on my Hull & District AA book, so I really must make the effort to get over there.
Will my efforts be rewarded? It must be 20 years since I was last there, and then I was catching mostly brown trout?

The Seven is a lovely little river , I fished the stretch you are referring to a few years ago it still holds fish and throws up some surprises . Butterwick was always a good stretch but must confess its a long time since I fished it . I seem to recall the field held some bad tempered horses. I fish the seven upstream of Sinnington which is as pretty a stretch of water as you can find.
