Ummm, I will have you know, that Gudgeon had never seen a Boilie, it came from a tiny Header tank pool where I use to catch baits for Perch fishing an irrigation pond which was next to the header pool, on a Golf Course I built.davyr wrote:That's what you find when they've been on the boilies. :o
I caught it, took the photo and decided it was too big to use as a bait and put it back.
Then thinking I had just thrown a Record back I spent the rest of the day trying to catch it again ?
A couple of week later I managed it and took over the bloated Gudgeon to the Farmers house where his wife weighed it on a set of kitchen scales, it was a shade under the record, so I took it back and returned it to it's water home !!
It was in fact spawn bound with a hugely inflated belly

I've caught a couple of carp-bellied gudgeon like that Bob.
They were all still water fish who had been doing rather well on pellets that were fished for crucians and tench. Never hold the bottom in a river with a belly like that!
We even had a humourous match to try and catch a big un'. A man from GUGGS even came along.

Not a sniff of a gudgeon though
