Nice fish MD! I am struck every new season by the fighting ability of Tench, size for size they are very impressive. Its strange too, because they look kind of sedate, even sleepy in their green garb and then fight so impressively. Keep up the good work! Bob

Nice fish MD. The Bristol Avon has (or had) loads of tench, it was bizarre to see them cruising on the edge of a swim full of barbel. The best I had of about 4lbs, came from the fastest water on the stretch and went like a train but further up the river, which was slower, they went to over 7lbs.

Brilliant MD, a really good brace and a rare feat.

I once caught a tench from the Hants Avon when I was barbel fishing. In fact, before I caught my first Avon barbel, I had caught a carp, a tench and a bream! All from what was meant to be a barbel stretch!

I think I am right in saying that the tench record was previously held by a river fish, from the Suffolk Stour. Might have been two centuries ago mind.
