One ebay seller described a Gemina as "wobbling like a drunk on Friday night".

Such honesty is sadly rare nowadays, I fear, but doesn't bode well - though his particular reel may have had a hard life. We all await the review with interest, there's a lot of Geminas out there!

I bought one cheaply last year. Quite a wobble on it but a very sturdy reel as evidenced by the 300 gram weight. Bombproof I would have thought?

i have managed to obtain a pair of 3 1/2" " The Gemina " Centre Pin trotting reels with aspool width of approx 1/2 inch. Each reel weighs approx 300 grms.
Made by T.J Harrington & Sons Ltd of Walton on Thames, they are marked " Made in England " They are from the same stable that produced the "Omnia - fixed spool reel", the "Invicta" and the "Little Kraka" around the 1950's.
These are from an English maker, the spools run freely and the ratchetts are positive. Both have the full line guards and all screws and handles are original.
The centre spool cork arbours are complete and in very good condition.

just wanting a little more information on these reels also value performance etc.

thankyou for your time any contribution would be appreciated cheers CP
Hi Boris and welcome. All the T J Harrington reels could be best described as being at the lower end of the market for budget conscious anglers. All made from moulded alloy with few machined parts. However, they were functional and tough as old boots. As well as their 'Pin' style reels of various shapes n sizes they also produced FIVE fixed spool reels some of which are quite difficult to find. All the best from Russ 😎👍

Tonkin wand often turns up with some of these. I’ve always thought of them as starter reels. The alloy reels are often found to be corroded in some part. Probably left in a damp place for too long. Still, they catch fish, regardless.
He often catches more than I do on some very dodgy kit. Elastic bands frequently feature on rods.

I picked up one of these a few months ago. I thought it would be interesting to use, but it stays on the shelf because the position of the handles, right next to the rim, means you'd end up with no thumb if you hooked something that took line.

I was lucky (?) in picking up this little Regina reel.
Clearly from the same stable, but benefits from high and low gearing, for that ultimate fast retrieval experience.
Or at least it would, if the gear wheels were not stripped!
