Thanks Ian, much appreciated. I fished there over 45 years ago on a scout camp, it was a complete disaster as I remember I travel through Scotland on a regular basis, you've got me thinking.

Ah the steamer jetty at Balmaha. That brings me back! I used to launch my boat in MacFarlane's boatyard. As Ian says the Endrick has superb roach fishing with vast shoals of the silver darlings. With a bit of luck you could also join Walker and Buller in the ranks of the Loch Lomond flounder club.

The Endrick has limited access if you don 't have a boat, but there are a few stretches that you can fish from the bank. Balmaha harbour has good roach and perch fishing and the Oak Tree Inn is a great place to stay - very wife (or significant other) friendly. Sandy MacFarlane is very helpful so it pays to ask at the boatyard office. He also hires out pieces of angling history and you can still hire the boats that Walker, Buller and Taylor used although I suspect that they are little like Murphy's brush (60 years old and only 4 new heads and 3 new handles sorr).

With a boat and a little time to find them, how big are the roach on the Endrick and how good can it get?

I always stop at the boatyard for a wee look.ive seen big perch around that when the small roach are there.i only caught a few roach and the first one was 12oz and rab got 1 roach at 12oz,which was his pb on his first trip.
