Fully varnished with a transfer that I've never seen before. A lovely looking rod with quite a lot of intermediate whippings. I can't see an 'impregnated' marking. Quite unique.

It is a Scottie rod - made by Scottie - http://scottierods.co.uk/?page_id=44. Not made by Sharpes.

Several different "Scottie" rod companies after Sharpe sold the name!

Sharpe's of Aberdeen are still going selling carbon rods and nets, etc.

Whoever made these Scotties rods they were lovely!

Just found a "Scottie" fly tying vice - made by Scottie Fly Fishing Products.
"""Scottie Fly Fishing Products

That is a good find.. Well done you!
I have the Fred Crouch Barbel Rod, also in varnish.
Yours has the look of being from the same later period I feel.

Interesting site. Thing is, there's no contact information, or am I missing something? :Hat:

I don't know!

I do know that the Fred Crouch, Avon and Carp rods when made by Scottie (not Sharpe's) were based in Ealing/Uxbridge way although I have forgotten exactly where!

PWW Designs are on Twitter - not having that myself though I have not seen any details. ""http://pwwdesigns.co.uk/author/peterw/""

" It's made by S&J Tackle Engineers (Steve and John Weaver)" regarding a Scottie fly rod

""John Weaver (scottie) took over from Sharpes and produced the same excellent rod range.
John also used the originall milling machines and impregnation process used at Sharpes of Aberdeen plant.
The last time I spoke to John he is still producing a few things today like the vices so he is still very much in business.
John very kindly gives me full permission to continue to produce the full range of bamboo fly rods. Hope that helps. Gary""

More info on the Scottie rods.
