Welcome to the forum.

I'm about to embark on getting myself a small collection of youngs reels in the near future. Your advice would be very welcome.

Hello Jockscott,

We can never have too many skilled experts on reels!

Welcome.

Hi Jockscott, and welcome to the forum.

In 1947, while still at school, I bought myself an Allcocks Aerolite reel, which was made of Bakelite, which I mostly used for pike fishing, with some success. The reel lasted some 10 years, before It fell off the rod one cold winters day and broke into too many pieces to glue together in those pre Araldite days !!!

I recently saw an Aerolite in good condition at a local car boot sale, and bought it before my wife could stop me !!!

Hopefully, we will be able to have a conversation, so that I may learn more about the reel and its history.
