My pal and I sometimes incorporated luminous materials into our Sea Trout night flys. We never really proved if it made any difference but then the vast majority of our fish were caught fishing subsurface on really dark nights, the fish seeing the fly in silhouette against whatever lightness there may have been in the sky. Thus we always felt that the profile and action of the fly were more important than the colour. Black and silver seemed to do the trick on our rivers.

Bit bored in tier 4, so I made this 4" joey Mackerel fly and a few more, for fly fishing for pollack should I be able to holiday in Scotland this summer. Might even try it for pike in some deep weir pools!
Nice bit of craftsmanship there, great idea too

Santiago, I am really impressed with your tying skills. Your flies get better looking every time you post them. Well done sir, well done indeed.

I am soon going to get into pike fishing with the fly, so I may be asking for your advice and instruction, if you won't mind.

Feel free! I'll recommend you a good book that's based in the States. I'm at work at the moment supervising two students, so I'll post details when back home.

They would be great Sea Trout fly’s at night I would imagine.
I’m sure they will be all rounders, Pike, Perch, definitely catch Pollack and Mackerel!
And tied in a engineers vice!
Keep us posted... when ever you can get out to try them.. might be a while?

Might be a while before I test them. In the meantime I've ordered some smaller hooks so will try to make a few smaller ones.

Let's see what they turn out like first. The only flies I've tyed so far have been on a 4/0 hook, apart from a few on 8/0s. Hence the engineers vice!
