"Jack Hargreaves A Portrait" written by Paul Peacock, published by Farming Books and Videos Ltd. A cracking read, and it also lists all Jack Hargreaves TV programmes between 1960 and 1982StalkingLuke wrote:Yet another on the wish list.
Was there ever a Jack Hargreaves biography written?

Re: Fishing for a Year
I was very lucky to buy a copy of the original (1951 Macgibbon & Kee) with dw in near fine condition for £8.50 ! some years ago in a bookshop in Stamford, its a lovely book and its size of 7.5'' x 5'' fits neatly in the hand. Only 112 pp with great b/w line drawings, not a wasted word. The 'small stuff and beginners' chapter mentions 'Tommy Ruffe' !! When I've got a chance I will post a few pics.

I'd very much like a copy of this one of my hero's was our Jack.
Would love to find a Jack Hargreaves Avon rod as mentioned in an early 70's Bennetts of Sheffield ad too!

Re: Fishing for a Year
I've just finished this book.
What a lovely, refreshing read it is too.
There is information and wisdom here that I'd not encountered in any other publication and I feel enlightened by reading it.
For those that remember Jack from TV, you will actually hear his voice reading the book to you as you go through the chapters.
Heartily recommended!
