At least you will be able to hold it then, you should be able to tell if it is a rod you will get a long with right away.

Sounds like a fare price, I paid £56 for mine but it is in mint condition.

could it be an early one as the only one,s i,v seen seem to be all split cane where as this one is whole cane butt and middle?

Just bought the rod and it needs a full set of rings, so i think i,l do a full refurb while i,m at it.
The details of the rod are as follows.the model is a Rushton ,three piece 13ft, whole cane butt section, whole cane and split cane mid section and whole cane and split cane top section, 24" handle

That's a nice long handle, so I guess short handles were not always the done thing then.

You may be interested to know that FT Williams was in fact a integral part of Pegley Davies of Hersham Surrey I ran the finishing dept there for some years !

I well remember "the powers that be" designing a label which featured a crown! Hardys took exception to this logo and sued !I had the B*** job of scrapping the offending crown off of hundreds of stock rods ! Oh Happy memories !!

I've just had yet another long post eaten by this site!
How did PDQ and Williams combine? Williams were around before them, but I think PDQ were still going in the mid-Eighties.
And the crown is still on the later blue Williams logo on some rods I think...unless I'm being confused by clever shaping of the letters?.
I've long wanted to collect PDQ stuff as I've been a Surrey resident for most of my life and fished with their gear as a lad, but I always get beaten on price on eBay....I must not be alone.
So far all I have managed to get is a couple of rod ring sets, a lead shot tin and my prize...a pale green knot card, something I never went out without as I've always had an appalling memory for knots!
edit: I've just gone and looked at the knot card again, more a pale blue colour than green, truth be told, and on the back amongst a list of products PDQ are sole-agents for was.....
