Nope, I really liked it.

I got more emotionally involved with casting at the sun as mentioned in another thread, but I think I enjoyed How to fish better. I'm basing that on the fact I've read HTF three times and CATS twice.

I struggled very much to get into it but after the first 20 or so pages it started to mean something to me. Things he noticed like the Hare not heading back to the leveret in a straight line but zig zagging to give itself more time to be alerted to predators, these things that most people wouldn't even notice.

It is a good book but in a different way to fishing books.

God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.

Can a throw a swerve ball in here? The Waterlog Years. A collection of essays, rather like Gierach's work. I rate this book as one of his best....

I just finished The Secret Carp as a audio book and it was quite good and a hearing it read by the man himself is an added bonus.

I also liked it a lot - but it was not really a new book as it was all of course published in the Waterlog magazines.
One of my favourites from that book is 'The keys to the madhouse'.

I also really like 'Four Seasons' - it doesn't get commented on much - not sure if that is because its not liked much or because few people have read it.
