Iv found nothing wrong with Chapman rod,s and find their cane to be very good be it early or late . I have 6 500,s and a 550 along with an Amwell/Shelford/Hunter/Quinette/Mk4 Carp and a couple of fly rod,s and find all to be very good rod,s.

I am the purchaser of the Chapmans 500 referred to in this topic and a new member of TFF.As you will see from my profile and the posts I have made I am in the process of replacing tackle that was previously stolen from my home.I had carefully considered buying a 500 that needed refurbishment or buying a blank and having it made up.Although I have refurbished and made rods in the past I simply do not have the time to do it now so felt buying this rod was easiest and quickest(and perhaps the cheapest?) way of getting a rod I could use.I would have been out on a local river today had the levels been lower.
So what of the rod?If he vendor is a member of the TFF could I compliment him on his honesty and integrity.The rod is precisely as described and is in pristine condition and does not look like it has ever been used but has been carefully and appropriately stored.I am not an expert on split cane rods but have purchased and used them throughout 60's,70's & 80's before the theft of all of my rods.
Could I say what pleasure I have had in reading the information contained on the TFF site.It has brought back many happy memories of tackle and fisherman of the past.
Could I also thank contributors to the TFF who provided me via their postings with a great deal of factual information which enabled me to make a considered decision to buy this rod and no doubt others in the future.

My Chapman 500 is my first choice for most of my fishing - I absolutely love it.
Completely understand about the time and effort involved in bringing a cheaper (?) Chapman up to spec. Who cares how much you paid for it - I imagine you will cherish and use it for many years to come so the cost is irrelevant if you can afford it.
