Thrilled to have acquired one today, feels absolutely delightful in the hand. Roll on the Autumn, this rod will be Itchen bound.

To be honest I have never weighed the few cane rods that I have, but having read these posts on the Hardy Perfection Roach, I weighed my Eggington rod with the "Roach" tip ( I have another "Avon tip") with Wal's butt extension it measures a fraction under 11ft and weighs 12ozs. I have never waggled a Perfection Roach but presumably they are hollow built to be that light?

Only the butt is hollow built.

Only the butt is hollow built.
Any idea how much lighter that makes it?

:Hat: I am sure that someone will have an idea of what the weight saving would be, surely an ounce or two?

The walls of the hollow built blank, are surprisingly thin.
I posted some photo's of one, from which I had removed a damaged butt cap, it clearly shows the hollow built blank.
No idea how to do a link... but I think the post was 'Tale of two rods' or something similar.
It certainly stiffened the butt and I would think the weight saving was considerable.
