As a newcomer to cane I would advise you to avoid buying cane rods with short handles, above 20" should be ok, and avoid rods longer than 11'. For such rods you will probably find they feel heavy and unbalanced, and they will be burdensome to fish with. A good beginner rod will have a handle of at least 23" and be about 10 ' long. Something like a Chapmans 500.

Me too.
And me.
And me......
I put my centrepins back into their respective bags unencumbered when finished for the day.
The line gremlins don't get active between times as a rule.

How about a Pope.

Back to the subject!! I use a lump of blue tac! To keep line on a centrepin.

I normally just put the ratchet on and pop the reel in a pokey bag :Hat:

If the reel has holes in the face I feed the last few inches of line in and out a couple of the holes but Harrys right, just put the check on and bag it up.

I did once have a cheaply made centrepin with a line clip on the front of the spool which I thought was a quite neat idea.

Wal.

Ratchet on and back in the reel case.
