Yes stroft is good stuff probably the best modern line I have tried.
Lots of match lads use it with Preston reflo
Again reflo is good stuff as well.
I only use it for hook lenghts as I much prefer standard mono on the reel.
Try it its ok.

Just looked at Stroft and Reflo lines

Sensor 4lb - 1.8kg = 0.20mm

Stroft 1.8kg = 0.12mm
Reflo 4.75lb = 0.13mm

So a significant difference! Seems it needs to be tried esp. as a hooklength when float fishing sprayed maggot or pellet for chub!

The Sensor 4lb I've tried breaks at a knotted 6lbs 2oz so an understated breaking strain.

When Double Strength came out I was urged to try it by the tackle dealer as the 1lb 14oz was the same diameter as Bayer 1.1 (our hook length of choice) but I found it unreliable, certainly worse than the Bayer.

Ollly just one point if you measure stroft it mics out prefectly as stated on the packet.
Reflo is good stuff but its very slightly thicker than stated on the packet.
like I say I only use bayer on my reels for float fishing on running water.
But its good stuff as good as it gets for a modern line.

I have used Drennan Floatfish for years & years for trotting. Sensor for waggler and most other things from 3lb up to 20lb for salmon.

Hooklengths are something else! Either via 'hooks to nylon' or from a spool of lighter Sensor.

I have used Bayer in the distant past but rarely see it in tackle shops that I use.

I have put floatfish on a couple of reels/spools that I have, I have yet to use it on a river as such but from use as a line for a bit of floater fishing recently it performed fine as regards lay and knots etc.

Its lovely stuff Bayer I have used it for 40 yrs.
I use 1.7,2.6 and 3.2 all for floating on rivers.

I've used Stroft GTM 4lb bs for two seasons and I like it. Cheap too.

I caught all 3 of my double figure barbel using drennan double strength but I was using a soft carbon rod back then.

DS I found dreadfullly unreliable; Stroft is thin but tangle and kink prone on fly leaders, and doesn't knot well. I use Reflo Powerline in 0.11 (3-6) , 0.13( 4-12) 0.15 ( 5-14 )and 0.17 ( 7-6 I think) for all my light coarse fishing and all my fly fishing. I use the 11lb stuff fom Reflo and Drennan Supplex (is it ?) for barbel , and braid reel line too .

Maxima is fine for chubbing etc in winter but it is very thick and very inflexible , if near unbreakable.

If you look at the prices of premium fly leader material you will see the premium US barnds cost over £20 for 100m - they have the same diameter as Reflo costing a quarter as much .
