Eggs, granny, teaching to suck alert, but some here are clearly newer to vintage tackle - be aware that wicker can be tightened up by soaking it and letting it dry, so don't walk away from an intact basket just because it creaks and wobbles a bit.
And don't varnish them, or you can't repeat the trick.
Somewhere on PP is a recipe for a dressing - almost a vinaigrette - based on linseed oil, vinegar and turpentine, iIrc; hopefully the donor will repeat it here!

Whilst scanning for creels/trout bags etc I came across these.

Not exactly traditional, but they have been around for a while. I have a feeling they came over from France in the 1970s I particularly like the fact that they have a back rest (I haven't seen that before) Comfort on stillwaters is becoming more of an issue with age

Tasty, but no feet.
Could they be persuaded to make an Octoplus adaptor, I wonder?
Mud-feet would be so handy at Glyndebourne when it rains - keep the mud out of the Patum Piperium sandwiches, what? - so the market would be far wider than mere(ly) anglers.

Noodnik that I am - could Octoplus be persuaded to make a wicker adaptor?
Is such a thing possible?

They look a bit awkward to carry. OK if you have a butler or valet to do it for you :hahaha:

You are correct, Vole. It's an old French polishers reviver recipe:
1 part white vinegar
1 part linseed oil (boiled is better but raw will do)
1 part meths. (some recipes denote turps/white spirit but Meths is better)

Once mixed you'll need to shake before using as the fluids seperate when left to stand. Always throw oil impregnated cloths out to dry, do not put them in the bin as they can self combust. Unlikely, yes, but I have seen it happen myself so never take chances.

Not having a lot of luck with this sort of thing. Again, too good to be true. These seatboxes are showing as currently unavailable. So I phoned to find out when they would be getting some more in. The answer was not good. Apparently Brollnets have ceased trading :( At this rate, I can see another DIY project coming on.
