Good afternoon :Hat:
I have been using a pot bellied Creel for some years now, and a game bag when it’s particularly wet.
I’ve now foraged a wicker basket from the loft. I’ve had it since late 70s at least, but never had a strap.
It may, despite being whole willow, end up being be better suited to holding kindling :Chuckle: but I’d like to give it a deep soak and see if it holds up to intended use, particularly as it’s a dinky 16” x 8”.

Does anyone know a suitable canvas / leather strap supplier ?
I note a few years back @traditionalangling was able to, but thought I’d ask more broadly if this is no longer the case?

Best wishes

I sit on a chair (modern JRC) and open up my vintage whicker basket, put a small towel (to protect the rod varnish) on both the fore and aft edges and use it as a 'rod-pod'. The balance point ensures the reel sits safely inside the creel.

Sometimes I prop up the open basket lid with a suitably sized forked stick I carry, to make myself a small table.

Basket.

One of my fathers baskets is on that site, with a few reels: £50

seems to have carried a bit of weight but not bad condition.

Another of my Dad's baskets, more centred on the centre of midlands angling in the 70's - Sheffieldd.

doesn't look too bad. except hinges may need re-willowing.
