The most precious places in the English landscape are those secretive corners,
where you find only elder trees, nettles and dreams. (BB - Denys Watkins-Pitchford).

Been wearing a Lite Felt Briar for years. I have replaced the fake leather band with a light webbing one. It was originally brown but the sun/rain has faded it to an olive green. Very comfy, keeps the sun out of your eyes and the rain from dripping down your neck

I have a light brown woolly hat for the winter months and I've just bought a nice green fedora (well I've got the blog page, I've got to have the hat) from eBay. Nice and comfy and at £5.99 bloody good value.

I have a leather cowboy style hat, I think it's made by rogue? I bought it at a Land Rover show at Eastnor about 10 years ago. I also have a Jack Pyke cap with a pull down neck and ear flaps (and a light in the peak for night fishing).

Regarding the itching and initial discomfort stages of growing a beard- I found that all you can really do is tolerate the irritation. Have faith though because although your skin takes a while to get used to it, things will settle down. Now I have the opposite problem- If I shave it off I itch like mad and don't like my face without it. My chin looks too short! All part of the fun of being a traditionalist I guess. :chuckle:
