Re: Winfield
Just having a bit of a stock check tidy up sort out and found a Young Angler reel in a boxful of reels that was hiding in the garage.Looks good great bail action and a real wake up rachet.

Ah yes, I think I see a 'brute force' bale arm operation there.

Re: Winfield
Winfield Newcomer, there`s a blast from the past.It was without doubt the best made "beginner" reels, when I was a kid it was the stepping stone to a 300.Excellent little reels.

Re: Winfield
My first reel was a winfield. I think it was a spinfisher but not sure now. I know it was metalic green!

Wow days gone bye
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Re: Winfield
Now that is early for Woolies....any date on it?
Woolies had a re-branding involving the curvy W of the Winfield name sometime in the late Sixties and stuff from before then is quite rare now.....
Some of the few images of pre-make-over Winfield branding:

Here's the later logo..note the post decimalisation price tag:

Not sure when it changed, but I think very late Sixties..it was just the new one when I worked for them in 1969 as a Saturday lad.

Re: Winfield
Completely unmarked I'm afraid Nobby. I shall get a measure out later and check the dimensions, but it looks right by eye. I assume similar tins would have been available from other manufacturers?

Re: Winfield
I have a 55 sat in a draw that I was given by my Grandfather after he saw my growing collection of vintage tackle. The clutch is hopeless and there is a big thick groove in the "roller". Lovely green colour though.
