Hmm... I have two Duracast reels. One of them I actually use for ultra-light-trotting, the other is rather a boys reel, but still boxed and with papers. I don't dare to disassemble them for parts. But of course, a brilliant idea and a good excuse for buying some more job lots off the bay. I know now what to reply the ministry of finances next time, she makes remarks like: "Didn't you say, you already have enough reels?"
Thanks for the tipp, Chavender

A man can never have enough rods, reels or books.

To my eyes it looks exactly like the Meteor: oblong line guard, retaining knurled screw nut, narrow drum and rim mounted check lever. Steve Chavender will no doubt tell us. I'd think this makes it very early in Mordex history, it looks more like a prototype than anything else. Must try and get down to the Sheffield Archives before I head back to France.

Also it looks to me that this may have been a Mordex attempt at a 'Nottingham' style reel. What's the diameter? It looks big.

Yes I'd say it is an early model...pressed aluminium back plate and a lever check.
