I used 6lb Double Strength for hooklinks whilst floater fishing in the early to mid 80's. 6lb Sylcast mainline, old style bubble float approx 1 1/4 ounce, 6-8ft hooklink in 6lb DS no 8 Kamatsu with hair rigged bit of balsa on a Hutchy Spiroflex 2lb compound action rod. Caught numerous 20's within ounces of 30lb. Set the clutch right, respect the fish never had any problems always used a untucked blood knot throughout. Came back to fishing 6yrs ago after a long break and used DS same as before. Just as I remember it. Sitting here with not a lot to do remembering times gone by lol

Maxima for general fishing - you could raise the Titanic with 6lb breaking strain - and Drennan float fish for trotting with centre pins.
